Intellicon Solutions and PIDC help the plastics industry build AI capability in-house

Intellicon Solutions and PIDC ran a hands-on AI Agent workshop addressing quotation automation and the gap left when experience is not passed on, so companies build real AI capability of their own.

As global supply chains are reorganized and products grow more customized, the plastics industry faces rising operating pressure and harder scheduling. To help traditional industry in Taiwan get a practical grip on generative AI, the Plastics Industry Development Center (PIDC) and Intellicon Solutions jointly ran an “AI Agent Development Practicum”, teaching design methods and helping companies build AI SOP systems of their own.

Passing on knowledge in the plastics business

Unlike electronics or chemicals, the plastics industry takes a wide variety of orders and runs a wide variety of process combinations, and many companies still make decisions on the experience of their senior people. Intellicon Solutions sees this as exactly the moment to bring in AI Agents. Map out the internal knowledge and SOPs clearly and structure them, and the standard processes can be handed to AI. Senior people get their time back, and the gap that staff turnover leaves in accumulated experience can be filled.

The platform offers editing tools with a friendly interface and supports integration of documents, forms and ERP data, so a company can develop AI Agents of its own without programmers. With prompt templates, knowledge bases as data sources and MCP Server / Client integration tools, the modules assemble into a task-oriented AI Agent that can analyze, summarize, respond and act.

Claudia Chen, COO of Intellicon Solutions, made the point: “What determines whether AI adoption works is not the technology but whether the company deliberately maps its processes, organizes its knowledge and turns that into a capability it can reproduce.” Once a company starts building its own AI SOP, it can keep improving and extending the range of applications, without depending on a single vendor or a fixed set of use cases.

What it looks like in plastics

Intellicon Solutions has worked on AI Agent development and corporate training for a long time and has broad experience on the manufacturing floor. Common tasks it helps plastics companies with include:

Automating cost estimation and quoting: matches product specifications against ERP records or past quotations and generates an estimated price with custom terms quickly. • Compiling and responding to quality issues: organizes production line anomalies and QA records into a standardized response report. • Filing safety documents and internal forms: classifies and summarizes production standards, test specifications and other documents automatically. • Mold maintenance and consumables management: brings maintenance records and consumables information together into a searchable knowledge base, cutting the time needed to train new staff.

A hands-on workshop in Taichung

This “AI Agent Development Practicum” was organized by the Industrial Development Administration of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and delivered by PIDC. The course combined theory with hands-on exercises, taking participants step by step through:

  1. Mapping the task process
  2. Cleaning up the data sources
  3. Prompt design
  4. Configuring and testing the AI Agent

Participants finish a first AI task on site that can genuinely go live, having walked through the whole deployment once.
